(1) From Greenville, SC

  • Take 385 S to 85 N
  • Take exit 68 (Wellford – US 129)
  • Take a left at the stop sign over the bridge
  • Continue for two miles down 129 and John Dodd Road is on the right
  • Turn right and continue for one mile; the church is on the left

(2) Greenville and Taylors, SC area – From Wade Hampton Boulevard (US 29 North)

  • Turn left onto US 129 and continue for four miles
  • Turn left onto John Dodd Road
  • Continue for one mile and the church is on the left

Ray Arnold, Jr Checkered Flag Tribute

Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds

  • Ray’s first involvement with NASCAR occurred when he met Wendell Scott in 1961.This was Scott’s first involvement in the NASCAR Series. This lifelong friendship started on the grounds of the Piedmont Interstate Fair which was then called the Spartanburg Fairgrounds. Join us for a historical review,  to see video clips and to hear reflections and funny stories from those who knew Ray.
  • He loved all types of vehicles and was a master at mechanical repairs. If you’d like to bring a vehicle to display as a tribute to Ray, please call Toni at 919-576-0051. He loved car shows and often entered vehicles and won awards. A Drive-In movie approach will be used to provide social distancing. Light refreshments will be available.

Greenville Pickens Speedway Victory Lap

  • Ray had a desire to race but for personal reasons, he chose not to pursue it. His family would like to honor him with a Victory Lap as checkered flags wave to signify the very impactful and victorious life he lived. Those participating should register with Toni at 919-576-0051 and arrive at 12:00 PM to line up. Drivers will take a slow -paced cruise around the Greenville Pickens Speedway in his memory.
